Children love to see their parents at school, getting involved with their learning. There are many ways to do this. Of course, you can attend performances, sports and swimming carnivals and other school events. The children really enjoy mums, dads and grandparents helping out in class - so do the teachers! Come in to class and help with reading, assist on sports day or other activities that may be happening. Feel free to ask your child's teacher if there are any activites that you can assist with. Going on excursions is always fun! Parents and Citizen's Association (P&C)If you would like to be more formally involved, come along to a P&C meeting. It is a great way to keep in touch with the 'bigger picture' of what is happening in our school. Our meetings are friendly and informal. You will not be convinced to take on any tasks that you are not comfortable with. The P&C brings parents, students and teachers into close co-operation and is committed to fostering parent-teacher partnerships. The P&C assists the school in many ways - and the more parents that are involved the more support that can be given to the school to benefits your child's education. Many hands make light work! Fundraising is the most common activity that P&Cs are known for - and for very good reason. Schools are provided with limited funding. The schools that seem to have 'a bit more' generally have a strong P&C. Traditionally funds are raised through sausage sizzles, chocolate drives and guessing competitions - however, if you have any more creative ideas, please come and share them with us. The P&C is also there to provide information to parents and other family members. Our information sessions during Terms 2 & 3 are always interesting. Topics have included health and behavioural issues, how to help with homework, transition to high school and keeping up with the technology that your child is using at school. Voluntary Contributions At Narwee the P&C ask for an annual voluntary contribution. This contribution goes directly to the school to supplement the costs of photocopying, craft materials and other resources used to enhance your child's learning. We only ask for $35 per child or $50 per family - not very much for a whole year's resources. The P&C are aware that the beginning of the school year can be costly, so we ask for this contribution towards the end of Term 1. Payment plans can be arranged if necessary. P&C MeetingsThe P&C meets the third Wednesday of the Month. Although, occasionally if they are too early in the new term, an alternate date may be made. Meetings during Term 1 and 4 are held at 7.00pm in the school library. During Terms 2 and 3 we hold Parent Information Mornings at 9.30am in the school hall, computer room or library, followed by a P&C meeting. Everyone is welcome!
