Key Learning Areas (KLAs)
Narwee Public School has a strong focus on delivering quality programs for learning across the whole school curriculum. The school curriculum consists of Key Learning Areas in English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE), Creative Arts and Personal Development and Physical Education (PDHPE). This includes excursions and in-school presentations from outside agencies. Ability Grouping Ability groups exist in all grades to cater for the extension and support of different learning needs. Class ability groups are organised in Mathematics and Literacy programs to ensure each student’s ability is recognised. Students who excel in Mathematics and Literacy are extended, while students with higher needs are supported in classes with smaller teacher to student ratios. Technology To allow for effective whole class learning, Narwee Public School has a dedicated computer lab equipped with modern computers, data projector and printer. The students also have internet access through the use of classroom computers. The school library contains 8 computers used for extending computer research skills during library lessons. Classes visit the computer lab weekly for lessons in EduWeb (school intranet), email, internet research, word processing, power point presentations and the use of software. Students are provided with quality teaching lessons that use the email system to complete tasks provided by the teacher. This promotes the development of skills such as sending, collecting and attaching data that can be assessed by the teacher at the completion of a lesson. This encourages all Narwee Public School students to keep pace with the cutting edge of technology development in computers.
Sports Program Narwee school sports program combines healthy living and learning with a full school sports program. Students develop an understanding of balancing a correct diet with essential exercise. The school sport program encompasses four areas – school sport, fitness skills, Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) competition and school carnivals and special gala days.
School sport – Sport is held on Friday afternoons. The sport activities planned by teachers seek to promote enjoyment, develop fitness and encourage the involvement of students in sport for life. Students are placed into one of 4 Houses: Currawong (yellow), Kookaburra (red), Kingfisher (green) and Magpie (blue). Students then compete in their House team at annual swimming, athletics and cross country carnivals. Students earn points for their house both at sport and in the classroom. The winning house is awarded a trophy on Presentation Day.
Daily Fitness Program – All students of Narwee Public school are involved in a fitness / skills program of three 20-minute sessions per week. This is currently held Monday to Wednesday and focuses on the 12 Fundamental Movement Skills of sprinting, hopping, side-gallop, skipping, dodging, leaping, static-balancing, vertical jump, kicking, throwing, catching and two-handed strike.

Student Representative Council (SRC) All students have the opportunity to have a say in issues that directly affect them through the Student Representative Council. The Council meets weekly and is run by the School Captains and Prefects.
The students vote to support community awareness and fundraising projects. In the past the SRC have supported: Jeans for Genes Day, the Exodus Foundation and Daffodil Day, just to name a few. Camp Each year students in Years 4, 5 and 6 are offered the opportunity to attend the school camp. Camp provides an environment where learning takes place through direct experience. It provides a setting that allows teaching methods that are informative and stimulating to students. Its primary objective is to extend, reinforce and supplement the formal education of students in the general areas of environment, living skills and recreation activities, placing emphasis on peer support and team building.
