About Our School

Narwee Public School is located on Broad Arrow Road at Narwee opposite the local shopping centre and behind Narwee Railway Station. We are also on several different bus routes (free bus or rail passes are available for children in Kindergarten to Year 2 and eligible students in Years 3 to 6). The grounds are well maintained and a security fence around the perimeter of the school ensures students are safe. Friendly and informative office staff are available to assist you with your enquiries. The following information outlines our school routines:

Uniform

Narwee Public School community has developed a dress code and expects that all children will wear school uniform daily.

To help minimise uniform costs, the Parents & Citizens Association (P & C) volunteers operate a Uniform Shop. It is open on Wednesday afternoons from 3pm and Friday morning from 9am - 9.30am. Second-hand old style uniforms are also available. Volunteers are always needed – so if you are able to assist, please let us know.

The school community has introduced a new shool uniform which started in 2009. Kindergarten in 2009, our trend setters, look great. The uniform committee has included as many items as possible that can be worn by both boys and girls - to help in minimising costs and to assist with 'hand-me-downs'. At this time, students from other years can still wear the boys grey uniform and girls tunic. It is expected that the new uniform will be fully phased in over 2 years and the whole school will be wearing it for the start of 2011.

Canteen

We encourage children to maintain a healthy diet whether they bring lunch from home or buy it at school.
The school canteen is privately run and opens 5 days a week, and adheres to the Healthy School Canteen Policy, implemented by the Government. Breakfast is available from 8.50am and the canteen is open at lunch and recess for the children to purchase other items on the canteen list. Children must order their lunch from the canteen before school. Price lists are issued at the beginning of the year and are updated seasonally. Parents are notified of any price changes. Keep an eye on the School Newsletter for any special meal deals or special menu days!

Information for New Parents about Kindergarten Orientation

A Kindergarten Orientation morning is held each year in November. Parents are invited to bring their child starting Kindergarten the following year to the school to familiarise yourself with the school environment and to find out vital information regarding school routines, starting and finishing times, uniforms etc. The Orientation mornings generally go for approximately two hours.

Original birth certificates and immunisation records are required to be produced when enrolling your child/ren. If you intend to subit an enrolment form on the day, it would be good to bring these documents along. They wiil be copied and originals returned to you.

For any parents enrolling children in Years 1 to 6, enrolment forms are available at the Front Office or you can download a pdf version through the link below.

Religious Instruction

Religious Instruction classes operate each Friday between 10:15am and 11:20am. Classes are provided for Protestant, Catholic and Muslim groups. Parents are asked to indicate the religious group their child should attend. If you prefer, your child may attend non-religious classes.

Parents & Citizens Association (P&C)

The P & C brings parents, students and teachers into close cooperation and is committed to fostering parent-teacher partnerships. The P&C assists the school through raising funds to supplement the purchase of new resources and equipment. It also holds information sessions about relevant issues to help you support your child’s education and wellbeing.
